Tiverton

Tiverton Basin is at the head of the Sakonnet River, just beyond the remains of an old stone bridge, the remnants of which provide a jetty and passage to calmer waters. While few docks are available, there are usually moorings available. This is a safe, quiet area.

Anchorages & Dockage

The entrance to Tiverton Basin from the south is the Stone Bridge Buttresses (which form two jetties protruding into each side of the river). The current runs strongly through this area at times so stay mid-channel to maintain maximum maneuverability.

There are small-craft facilities at Tiverton, across the Sakonnet River at Almy Point, and at Cedar Island Pond approximately 1.1 miles north of Almy Point. The facilities provide berths and mooring, electricity, gasoline, diesel fuel, water, ice, pump out facilities, a launching ramp, a lift to 60 tons, storage, and full repairs.

The facility at Tiverton has an approach depth of 35 feet with 12 feet alongside, at Almy Point has an approach depth of 25 feet with 11 feet alongside, and at Cedar Island Pond has an approach depth of 12 feet with 8 feet alongside.
